The founding idea arose in 1979 and was officially established in 1982 through the National Superintendence of Private Education – SNEP, with Resolution E-77 of the Ministry of Education of the Nation. Thus, the “Escuela Superior de Turismo y Hotelería Islas Malvinas” was born.
Later, with the creation of the Fundación Islas Malvinas, the institutional name was changed, becoming “Escuela Internacional de Turismo, Hotelería y Gastronomía de Mendoza” (International School of Tourism, Hotel Management and Gastronomy of Mendoza) dependent on the Fundación Islas Malvinas and under the dependence of the General Directorate of Schools of the Ministry of Education of the Province of Mendoza – DGE.
In this way, the international presence was promoted, it was localized by incorporating the name of our Province and Gastronomy was added to its own name. The Corporate Name of the Educational Entity took the name of Foundation, with objectives oriented towards greater institutional solidification.
During its history, it was declared of Interest on several occasions:

- Declared of National Tourist Interest, Presidency of the Nation, by Resolution No. 1359/02
- Declared of Provincial Tourist Interest by Resolution No. 512/02
Undersecretary of Tourism, Government of Mendoza - Declared of Provincial Cultural Interest by Resolution No. 345/02
Undersecretary of Culture, Government of Mendoza - Declared of Interest by the Honorable Chamber of Deputies
of the Province of Mendoza, Resolution No. 636/03
In 1983 we established ties with the IYHF, together with the Argentine Association of Youth Hostels and we were established in our building as a Youth Hostel and at the same time as a Branch for Western Argentina. The experience of those years was wonderful, and always pursuing the concepts and standards established by the IYHF.
Currently our Institution has grown in all the aspects defined in the original Vision and Mission. The trajectory obtained, the institutional positioning, the acquired experience and the international contacts, allowed us to fully develop a deep analysis of the existing needs in the hotel and tourism companies, public and private groups and official organizations, which could further consolidate their needs with the academic activity, the cultures and our areas of competence. In this way the Institution was able to offer an educational and professional service appropriate to our growth possibilities and idiosyncrasy, in order to generate human resources with greater knowledge and operational executive capacity; combining theory with the rest of the expressions required in each area, whose objective would be to provide interactive teaching, defining at the same time an “institutional concept”, where visitors or students share experiences and knowledge at each step of their circulation through the building. “Making School, every meter from the School”
This “institutional concept” harmonizes the pedagogical, technical, scientific and co-programmatic activities, through a permanent decoration and information distributed throughout the establishment, integrating in turn, thematic laboratories with high technology, the accommodation section and each free space of the building. Each of these sectors was previously designed and planned, and then concretized by professionals of each activity. A building conceived exclusively for the objective it fulfills. We consider that because it is unique in our country of its kind, it is a pride for our Province.
The building in its different themes has tangible samples of tourist, cultural, historical, archaeological, volcanological and environmental resources, from different countries and from our Province, a photo gallery of research work; holding of important private collections, gastronomy laboratories designed especially for the capacity of the students; virtual hotel; school restaurant with various food and beverage service themes; educational residence, room of the senses and tastings; Creole corner for outdoor regional cuisine; herb garden; pastry laboratory; cocktail room; computer lab with open Internet; Tourist, Hotel, Gastronomic and Wine Activity Library, unique in the Region; auditorium with bleachers for master classes, among others. The achievement of these goals is the result of the union of each area or department that make up the institutional organizational chart of the Malvinas Islands Foundation.
Organizational Culture
The Institution from its beginnings created an internal culture from the profile of its human resources, related to the pedagogical system, as well as proven experiences in each profession, as well as the formative concept of its students. A learning system was always prioritized by which the student when he graduates can aspire to jobs to develop and compete professionally in the shortest time possible.
The complementary activities belonging to the study plans are characterized as very important, such as the originally planned study trips, conferences and special classes by businessmen, officials or personalities from culture, gastronomy, the wine or fruit and vegetable industry and tourism; attendance at conferences, fairs and events at local and national level, development of fairs in our Institution, book presentations, business events, etc.
